Sherwood, is a new city with an old history. Old town was originally built in the late 1800’s next to the train tracks. Today the city is one of the fastest growing in Oregon with a current population of 16,000. It seems that everywhere I look there is a new development. The original downtown core has been revitalized and preserved and the new planned developments include parks and winding streets with affordable housing. Sherwood Neighborhoods definitely have a community feel and quality of life is abundant and thriving. My favorite Sherwood neighborhood is also the largest ‘Woodhaven’, home of the Family YMCA.
The schools are excellent with a high degree of parental involvement. Buildings are new with great facilities. Children’s sports are very big here, hail to the soccer Mom. Parks are abundant with sports parks, nature parks, dog parks and just plain old kid parks. Sherwood is a great place for families young and old. Did I mention that Wine Country is just a few miles west of Sherwood?
The current draw back to Sherwood is the bottle neck commute to I-5. However, Sherwood is a self-contained community with stores, shops, restaurants, large retailers and lots of entertainment for children. Did I mention that Sherwood is super close to the Oregon Wine Country?
