Luxury homes and executive homes abound in the Portland area. Executive home prices begin around $700,000 and luxury properties around $1,000,000. Although these prices and definitions of executive and luxury are quite subjective; as a general rule, they are "in the ball park" of expectations. These prices can be sticker shock for some people but a welcome change from other West coast cities and parts of the East coast.
Although the largest percentage of Portland luxury homes are located west of the Willamette River, there are still several areas on the Eastside that have left a mark of historic style and grace. Eastside luxury homes tend to be on smaller lots (under 7,000 sq. ft.) with one car garages, since they were built in the early part of the last century.
Acreage properties are limited within the Metro area due to State Land Use planning requiring more density and less farm land cut up into mini estates. There are pockets within the Metro area with 1-5 acre properties and a few planned developments with 1-2 acre sites.
